Hello!
In April of last year, the two of us loaded up Ricky's big white van with instruments, shoes and organic meat and began a two month journey that took us through 26 states performing 30 shows. Before that trip we had a local fan base; after it, we had a national one. We sold CD's at every show we played and made valuable music industry contacts from whom we have gained incredible opportunities otherwise unavailable to us. Most importantly, it opened up our own minds to the possibilities of what we really could accomplish with our music if we set our minds to it.
Now at the end of March, less than two months from now, we're hitting the road again for an even larger more expansive tour that will keep us out through the beginning of June and take us through parts of the country we've never performed in. We also hope to make the most of this trip even more by expanding promotion for our shows and creating some cool merch to sell along the way. We also are going to try recording every show we play. In order to do any of this, we're going to need your help.
Some figures....
-It takes around $50 to fill a tank of gas and a tank of gas gets about five hours of driving.
-On average we eat about $20 worth of food a day between the two of us.
-It will cost us $500 to order and create t-shirts, posters and stickers to sell along the way.
-It's about $1 for every colored sheet of paper printed at Kinkos for promo fliers.
-While we're able to usually find some kind soul to let us crash on their couch, occasionally we've had to shell out for a hotel room which is on average about $70 for a night.
-Miscellaneous costs could include anything from a $6 pack of guitar strings to not being able to leave Chicago before spending $1800 to fix the van's suspension (true story).
As you can see, it's not cheap to go on tour but the rewarding possibilities are endless. Touring is the only way to truly exponentially build a fan base and truly turn making music into a living. In the end you guys benefit most because the more successful we are at touring, the more resources we have to bring you more recordings, more shows and all sorts of other cool stuff lurking just beyond the horizon.
Every little bit helps immensely and as you'll read, we want to reward you for your contributions. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!
Love and Peace,
Adrian Bourgeois and Ricky Berger
