Any advice on the best length of time to set for project goal completion?

Hey all!

We're excited to be here raising money for our tour heading North to Alaska! Getting ready to finalize our project profile and get it up and running. But first, are wondering about setting a goal date for completion of our fundraising....

Anyone have any suggestions on the length of time we should set our project for? I feel like it should be short so people will feel inclined to show their support right away... but I don't want it too be too short. A month maybe?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I think that you should set your time to coordinate with the total amount that you would like to raise. I think it is important to express a sense of urgency, but remember it takes a little time to build some steam.

Success is best measured in many small steps and goals, so I suggest setting up 1 campaign at a time with a month long time line, and a smaller dollar amount. That way donors will feel that their $10 is really contributing to the pool. Giving $10 to a $1000 campaign feels better than giving $10 to a $10,000 campaign.

Once your month long campaign is up, start a new one! It keeps things fresh. Your fundraising should be a continues effort with fresh ideas and goals to engage your fans.
