Hello! And welcome to my Feed The Muse donation page! Feed the Muse is a great site where fans and interested listeners can help artists achieve their rock n' roll (or folk) dreams by donating various amounts to musical projects.
As you may know, Sara Banleigh (that's me!) is a singer of ancient folk music from the British Isles and Ireland. She takes centuries-old tunes and reworks them for piano and voice, creating new and original arrangements that are striking, beautiful, and rich.
What you may not know is that Sara and the Banleigh Band (as the NYC folk scene has lovingly dubbed Sara's bandmates) are striking out on tour this year to support Sara's album The Folk EP! The Banleigh Band will be hitting up a couple of festivals throughout the country this summer, and we are relying on YOU to make it happen!
Here's the breakdown: festival applications, renting a van, motel rooms, gas, buying equipment, getting new strings for our axes, feeding the drummer - all that costs money (aka dinero, moolah, the green) and that is where YOU come in!
Sara and the Banleigh Band are relying on donations from fans, listeners, and shady third parties to help fund our multi-state tour this summer and fall 2011. We want to hit up some festivals and play some venues in-between as we travel on the road, and only you can make that happen!
That is why Sara has hooked up with Feed The Muse, a site which lets fans show their support for artists. If you look to the upper right, you will see suggested donation amounts that start at as little as a dollar. You will also see some great gifts that I am offering as a thank you for donations.
So whether you are a die-hard, long-time Banleigh Band fan, or you have just secretly downloaded one of our songs through a dubious file-sharing site; whether you saw me singing on stage at Lincoln Center, or underground in the subways of New York, you can show your support by donating here! Remember, even the tiniest amounts help. Grains of sand, people, grains of sand.
